When I was a little kid, my dad took me gallivanting around the Fortree City hills, and he also taught me the way of the sword.

The Yangs are a clan of pugilists. Every young man grew up learning the ins and outs of the Fortree woods, the secret language of herbs and roots. We also learned to temper our strength, to use it for good, and to bring victory decisively. The sword ties its master to the Pokemon of his lineage. As is the case with every Yang gentleman - feather from a Skarmory, stone from a Kleavor, and blood from the swordsman's palm.

We earned a good living teaching martial arts. Quick of wit and strength, I also became quite a proficient battler. We lived a happy and peaceful life until the Jets came for us.

Clans have enemies; we often don't even know why. But one night, the Jets raided our village and set fire to our homes. Dafutou, my Scyther, has a burn mark over his left eye that will never heal. My family made it out alive, but falling wood took out my dad's legs and crushed his dreams of ever flying again.

Putting sword to stone, I trained my body and spirit, sharpening my being against the red hot furnace of my will. I waited three years; by the end, like a Magikarp becomes a Gyarados, I'd shed the skin of my past to give shape to my wrath.

I learned to temper my strength, to use it for good, and to bring victory decisively.

Ever since then, I've taken on the role of chief swordsman at our martial arts school, Flying Sword School. I hope to keep our family strong, protect us from our foes, and to find a way to help my dad reach the sky again.
